Santa Ponsa is situated on the South-West of Mallorca and is only 15 minutes away from Palma and 20 minutes from Palma's international airport. A thriving holiday resort since the 1960s, it also has its own piece of Mallorcan history because it was at Santa Ponsa that King Jaime I landed in the 13th century to capture the island from the Moors. And his landing is commemorated by the cross on the headland close to Santa Ponsa Marina. As a visitor to the town, you will pleasantly find a mixture of tourist bars and restaurants, and those used by residents. During the peak Summer months (May to October) many bars have live entertainment and your choice is unlimited. For sports enthusiasts, obviously there is a wide choice of water sports, but there are squash, football, tennis and several golf courses either in or close to Santa Ponsa. Santa Ponsa is also an ideal base to use if you want to visit the other parts of the beautiful island of Mallorca.
